Yesterday, I had 2 interviews in London. The first one was near London Bridge and the second was quite a distance away in Aldgate. Since I had some time in between, I took the leisurely walk from London Bridge up to Tower Bridge and past the Tower of London and into the city heading towards Aldgate. Aldgate, by the way, was NOT my cup of tea - kind of a rough area. The South Bank walk along the Thames though is quite a treat! Great views of Tower Bridge and London cityscape along a beautiful promenade with shops and restaurants everywhere. It was even enjoyable with the looming clouds and wind whipping along! Definitely on the list to go back and explore some more and maybe have a nice lunch on the river! The HMS Belfast is also anchored there and it is a floating naval museum. Good thing for the kids while the Mom's shop!
I was all day in London and thankfully, the multiple tube line closings did not affect me - they had 4 lines completely shut down at one point due to the lack of trains?!? Seems to all be fine today.
When I got home, we got takeout from a Thai Restaurant around the corner with a cool concept. On one side is the restaurant and bar and next door is their takeout side. Everything is packaged FRESH FRESH FRESH and just requires some warm-up. We had a great feast with green chicken curry and rice (they did not have the red duck curry that we wanted to try - good excuse to go back!), spareribs in a black bean sauce, thai beef salad, soba noodles with a sesame dressing and SUSHI! the Sushi was unbelievably fresh - everything was, we agreed, the best quality takeout we have ever had! The portions were good - one order of curry was enough for two for dinner and a little left for lunch today! One of the neat sushi rolls was DUCK and it was just ... wow!
We wrapped up the evening with the next movie in my James Bond Enlightenment (required for all Yanks) which was "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and at this point, having watched them all in order, it is my favorite so far!
This is one of my birthday presents (I cannot wait to start!):
All in all - turning 38 (eek) was really good!
