Photo Tips for Shooting Silhouettes

early morning Everglades
Silhouettes are a powerful technique and one of my favorites.  I would like to do more work with silhouettes and, of course, the challenge is the light.
  • Turn off the flash - let the back light do its work
  • Shooting into bright light is a good thing for silhouettes
  • Choose a fairly monochrome background
  • Choose a strong subject that will stand out
  • If you get a good shot - you can work within your photo editor to make the shadows a bit stronger
